KICKIN' IT OFF

Last friday was our youth's summer kick-off. The theme was Hawaii if anyone noticed. So high-five to all those that went and chilled with us, hope to see you at camp. If you weren't able to make it, you missed out on some backyard barbeque and some fun activities. A big thank you for Amber who supplied the pictures.

It was pretty cool that we got to see some new faces.

They're not so new but it was still cool.

Our master chefs for the night.

Like a swarm of bees.

The games.
Hope everyone had fun. Here we go summer.

KOREAN HISTORY 101

Besides the spiritual training you get from Korea, you also get a huge amount of mental training. You would know if you ever hung out with our senior pastor. I bet you can you ask him anything and he'll know the answer. Any who, this is our group at Independence Hall. There's just too much to see and not enough time. I remember being here in year 2006 and almost all the displays have changed. This place made me realize that I need brush up on my own history.

I think this place was for kids to play with puzzles and stuff.

We toured this placed for two days and it still wasn't enough to really take time and learn everything. After, my feet and knees hurt and I wanted ice cream but it was all good. Learning can be fun! If you have some comfortable walking shoes.

AN OLD FRIEND

I'm pretty sure most of you heard people say "its a small world," and its true! I was so glad to see this guy, wish I had more time to spend with him. Who would of known out of all the places we would meet here.

Of course I'm talking about Master Kim... not. It's Naniel! Looks like he gained some weight.

EAST WEST TO THE FAR EAST

Korea has been really awesome. Since the day we landed it has been filled with overwhelming-ness, awe-ness, and movement-ness. To explain the experience here is really difficult because thats how life changing it is, from Korea history to the redemption and lift of this country by the hands of God is pretty amazing. But the important things is not yours physical eyes that see but the eyes of your heart that sees. "Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder."

Our first greeting. This was a pretty good laugh out loud moment.

This was at Coex, which is a mall in Korea. And for dinner they ate McDonalds. Laaaaaame.

Prayer cells at Osanri prayer mountain.

Independence Hall.

That's all the time we have for today. More will come soon.

Blooper Reel

Last June, SF had their own version of U.S. History Remix. Here's a little blooper reel for you guys.

In other news...here is the semi-official, if there is such a thing, flyer you can spread like wildfire online and with your friends.

Also, last Friday, the LA youth had another movie night fundraiser. Everyone was invited to watch Jose Rizal. Food served: Mais Con Hielo, Aroz Caldo, Fried Fish Balls. Note to youth: fried fish balls are panalo. Now for a few visuals.

Getting ready to serve up some food.

Just a few of our many satisfied customers.

Just a few of the many youth who helped put this fundraiser together.

Youth Special: Mais Con Hielo

Earlier that day...
We officially welcomed our European and San Diego guests with a special lunch and a game of NINJA.

A smile is all we need.

The end.
For now anyway.

Mitchel & Kazuya

It's a well-known joke the youth in L.A. have with Kazuya, or Kazu for short, that he is the long lost brother of Mitchel from Europe.

Now you know why.

Okay, it's not only their physical appearance, but their personalities that make them so much alike...oh and maybe their accents. Although, one is French and the other is Japanese.

In other news...the youth in L.A. have been working hard, coming together, making plans for fund raisers, and executing them. On top of that, they go through conditioning 3 times a week and read to engage their minds.

If you want to read along with us, here are the books that are currently on our official "To Read" list:

A Higher Honor
Warriors Heart Revealed
Lies That Go Unchallenged: In Media and Pop Culture
The First Filipino

Enjoy. Keep checking in for more updates and please continue to support the youth. (:

One Fine Day

It was quite the adventure with Kuya Josh and James last Thursday afternoon, as we were picking up the first batch of youth from Europe. Before heading out to LAX, we stopped by Starbucks, where there was a short commotion at the cash register as James tried to pay for Coach Joshua's order. James got his order mixed up with another gentleman. Who knew there would be two James' at Starbucks, waiting for their drinks at the same time? As we patiently waited for their arrival, their imaginations flew like there was no tomorrow. One word says it all: TAKEN. (Watch the movie, if you haven't seen it already.) I, on the other hand, just found it heart warming to see families reunited at last. All the happy faces. Sons waiting for their mothers, parents waiting for their grown up children, it gets me every time. When the youth arrived, we headed straight to the center for their special dinner and night watch.

Happy faces with Starbucks in hand.

The look of Anticipation at its' best.

Our first look at the youth coming from the terminal.

Meet the first batch of youth from Europe:
Mitchel, Ann Christine, Kevin, Eudrey,
Ate Badeth
and Notes (in the back)
